Inspiring Hollywood

James Cameron has opened the new era of sci-fi movies by producing Avatar. These kinds of movies always act as inspirations for scientist and end up by doing benefits for science. The mobile phone with a inbuilt camera and touch screen facility might had been a distant dream 100 years back but now it is a another gadget lying by my side .

Specially after watching Avatar I am unintendly found myself thinking about the functioning of brain, such a powerful device right above our torso.

Suppose an old, injured, diseaseful body is dying and through special mechanism we are able to successfully transfer ones consciousness into another body which is more young, strong and vigorous, just as we have seen in movie, The Avatar is controlled by paraplegic protagonist. In movie the body of Avatar controlled by the brain of genetically-matched human operators, logically speaking if old brain dies the new body automatically becomes dead. Same theory applied in another movie Surrogate where robot like humans controlled by genuine humans, sending signals through their brain. But my question stills the same, what if old brain or operator dies? Is a new body still active? Go by the rules of science answer is “No”.

In the end of movie Avatar, Jake Sully’s consciousness transferred to his Avatar permanently through a ritual performed before Tree of souls. I believe death still being a mystery for science and most of us .We may in future eradicate cancer through stem cell therapy, finding cure for AIDS but, is it possible to victory over death?

I will continue on this topic in my next post till then happy weekend.
